Woven was conceived as an exhibition and celebration of a diversity of voices, cultures, and creative work from around the world. The inspiration for the festival grew from a shared conviction in the belief that artistic creation and exchange fosters deeper communication, understanding and empathy between members of the global community. Through art, we uniquely express and perceive the cares and values, joys and sorrows, thoughts and ideologies that define our lives. It is art that renders visible and sensible the otherwise unseen fabric of human experience, within which we are all interwoven.
In this, Woven’s inaugural year, we welcome the world’s visual and performing artists, designers, and producers of virtually all creative media, of all ages, levels and backgrounds to submit proposals for possible inclusion in a two-day event to be held in December, 2015 in Makuhari/Tokyo, Japan.
